Biography: Xijun Hu is Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He received his B.S. in chemical engineering from South China University of Technology (1982) and Ph.D. from the University of Queensland, Australia (1993). After two years postdoctoral work at the University of Queensland, he joined the faculty of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 1994. Professor Hu is a member of the Board of Directors of International Adsorption Society (IAS), associate editor of two journals and in the editorial board of International Journal of Chemical Engineering, has edited 1 book, published over 130 technical articles and presented more than 70 conference papers. He also has 3 patents. Professor Hu’s research covers the development of heterogeneous nano-catalysts; catalytic conversion of NOx to N2; desulphurization; organic wastewater treatment by photo Fenton, catalytic wet oxidation and adsorption processes; catalytic oxidation of ammonia wastewater; multicomponent adsorption equilibrium and kinetics in heterogeneous porous media; characterization of microporous solids; fabrication of meso-structured crystals for electrical and optical applications.
