Biography: Dr. Jun Ren is a Reader in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in the Liverpool Logistics, Offshore and Marine (LOOM) Research Institute at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), UK. Dr. Ren has a PhD (2003 from the University of Exeter, UK) in Strategic Manufacturing and Operations Management and over 15 years of industrial, teaching, and research experience within the areas of risk analysis and safety assessment, logistics, and supply chain analysis. He has been leading researcher in the development of a range of decision support systems and applications for logistics and supply chain systems, offshore installations, oil/gas development projects, and agile/lean systems with financial support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), EU, etc. These systems are used in a wide range of decision-making and risk assessment activities by organizations including General Motors, Tesco, NHS, Ford, Shell, BP and CNOOC in  relation to enterprise, healthcare and finance; modelling and analysis of system safety and security; organisational self-assessment in quality management; policy-making support and pipeline leak detection. From 2011 to 2015, he was an investigator on the €9.5m EU-funded project Weastflows (freight movement in North West Europe) (€700k allocated to LJMU). Currently , he is managing a project funded by EU grant (€1,104,000 to research network on Emergency resources supply chain). Dr. Ren has supervised 10 PhD students to completion and is currently supervising 5 PhD students in the areas of supply chain management and logistics operations. He is an editorial board member/an associate editor of three international journals and has published over 100 refereed research papers.
