Biography:

Dr. John S. Sampalis is a tenured Professor of Surgery and Medicine at McGill University and the University of Montreal. He is the Founder and CEO of JSS Medical Research founded in 1997. Dr. Sampalis holds a PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatics from McGill University with training in Microbiology, Immunology and Neuropsychology. With over 160 peer-reviewed publications in high ranking journals, approximately 400 presentations and abstracts and more than seven million dollars in research funding, Dr. Sampalis is recognized as one of the leading clinical epidemiologists in the world. With over 30 years’ experience in epidemiology, clinical research/trials, health services evaluation, health economics/outcomes research, biostatistics and the evaluation of medical technology, Dr. Sampalis also serves as a Research and Epidemiological Consultant for numerous pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and government organizations and agencies. In addition, he is a Fellow of the American College of Epidemiology, and member of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, American Heart Association, Canadian Cardiovascular Society, American College of Epidemiology and Canadian Obesity Network.
