Biography: Dorothy Greene Jackson, PhD, RN is Associate Professor and Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa Texas. Her clinical background includes staff nurse, hospital nursing administration, infection control, gerontology and cardiac care.Formerly taught in the LVN program and served as department chair in the Associate Degree Nursing and Career Ladder Evening Program at Odessa Community College. Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and practices part-time at a nearby rural public health department. Designed and operated advanced nurse practice clinic and worked at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Nursing as undergraduate and graduate faculty in the Nurse Practitioner and DNP programs. Worked in the TTUHSC Family Medicine department as a FNP, and served on the medical team as a provider for Nursing Home residents.Research interests include diversity, equity, and inclusion; health disparities in care provided; and medications among the elderly.
