Biography:

Ashraf N. E. Hamed is an Associate Professor, Pharmacognosy Department, Faculty of Pharmacy, Minia University, 61519 Minia, Egypt. He studies his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmacognosy) Institute   of Pharmaceutical Biology and Biotechnology, Heinrich-Heine University, Düsseldorf, Germany (2006-2008).

He published over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles and attended (8) Conferences. He is a member of the Egyptian Botanical Society (4570), Botany Department, Faculty of Science, Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt. He is a reviewer in many international journals. He has served as an Editorial Board member for Journal of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry. He cooperated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Egypt to produce an e-book "Quality Control of Herbal Drugs" (2017).

He has his expertise in purification, isolation (using different chromatographic techniques such as TLC, CC, MPLC, HPLC......etc.) and structure elucidation o natural products viz. sterols, triterpenes, alkaloids, phenolic compounds......etc. using different spectroscopic techniques including IR, 1D, 2D NMR as well as MS.

Furthermore, he has an experience in biological evaluations of the medicinal plants such as anti-microbial, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic, gastroprotective and anti-diabetic activities. Finally, he has a proficiency in macromorphology and micromorphology description of the plants.
