Dr. Areen Khattabi is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutics at Applied Science Private University, Amman, Jordan since 2013. She is teaching Pharmaceutics 1, Pharmaceutics 2, Physical pharmacy and their Laboratories. She obtained her Ph.D. from New Mexico State University, USA in December 2012 in Nano Drug Delivery Systems. She got her M.Sc. from the same university in August 2010 and had her B.Sc. in Pharmacy from University of Jordan in June 2003. As a Teaching Assistant at New Mexico State University, USA, she had four years of experience in teaching undergraduate chemistry laboratories in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. In detail, she taught General Chemistry Lab and Organic Chemistry Lab for many times, she also taught Physical Chemistry Lab in 2010. She worked as a Part-Time Lecturer at University of Science and Technology, Amman, Irbid in spring 2013. Also she is serving as a reviewer for journals such as Journal of Drug Delivery Science and Technology and AAPS PharmSciTech.

Research interests

Investigating the possibilities of applying nanomaterials, mainly silica nanoparticles, for cell transfection and targeted drug delivery of anticancer agents.

Evaluating the effect of the surface modification and the dimensions of silica nanoparticles on the transfection and endocytosis. The cell culture is considered an important part of this work
