Biography:
Dr. Karen T. Adams has over twenty years of professional practice since receiving her Masters of Science in Nursing from Syracuse University in 1996, and her Doctorate in Nursing from Chamberlain College in 2016.In 2003, after working in a low-income public health clinic and performing volunteer work with the Mission of Mercy in Central Pennsylvania and working as an associate nursing professor at Gettysburg Community College, she joined the Pheochromocytoma/Paraganglioma protocol at the National Institutes of Health in January2004. Dr. KarenAdams helped increase the number of patients treated each year by more than 500%. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she helped organize the first International Symposium on Pheochromocytoma in 2005, and organized the 1 st National Pheochromocytoma/Paraganglioma Patient Conference in 2006, an event she continues to organize annually. Dr. Adams currently serves as Secretary to the Pheochromocytoma Research Support Organization PRESSOR, an international organization of pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma physicians and researchers. In 2007, Dr. Adams founded the Pheo Para Alliance, a not for profit organization that brings awareness of the disease through advocacy, fundraising, and education. She is on the organizing committee for the 2017 International Symposium on Pheochromocytoma (ISP), which will be held in Sydney, Australia.
